I’ve had to work late more often than usual this week, so I figured I’d use a few crock pot recipes so Kramer would have dinner all ready to go when he got home. This pulled chicken recipe calls for very few ingredients, but it’s still got tons of flavor! It couldn’t be easier to make pulled chicken when you’ve got a crock pot! Recipe after the jump.

The brown sugar is key!

Start with the ketchup…

Then a few big tablespoons of packed brown sugar.

Then the soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.

Red pepper flakes

And garlic powder.

Mix it all up.

Put the chicken in your crock pot (I use these great crock pot liners from Reynold’s, too) and pour the sauce over all of it.

Cook on low for 7-8 hours (or high for 3-4 hours).

And viola! It’s dinner time.

Crock Pot Pulled Chicken

from About.com
3 chicken breasts (or 2-3 pounds of chicken)
1 1/2 cups tomato ketchup
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons red hot pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1. Combine all ingredients for the sauce in medium bowl.
2. Add the chicken to the crock pot and coat it well with the sauce.
3. Cook on high 3-4 hours or on low for 7-8 hours, or until chicken is fully cooked all the way through. 4. Shred or cut up the chicken, and replace it in the barbecue sauce in the pot; mix it all up so all the pieces are coated.
5. You can keep the slow cooker on low to keep the chicken warm for serving on rolls.

That is super easy and looks wonderful.
I thought that this said “Crack Pot Pulled Chicken” on first read. Still a delicious recipe I’m sure…I’ll have to try it with morningstar chicken..I think I’ll call it Crack Pot Pulled Chicken though…:)
It’s Voilà, not viola.
oh so what Oana. Sounds yummy!!
Sorry to have offended you with my spelling error.
This recipe looks so easy and delicious! I’m moving into my own place soon and I’d really love to get a crock pot to make meals like this.
Personally, I like viola!
This looks delish, and I am headed to the gettin’ place right now to stock up on these ingreds. Thank you for the great photos and how-to, and for sharing the recipe. Much appreciated, ma’am!
Sydney,
Thank you for getting me back into cooking again! I haven’t cooked since Spencer left for ASU last year, why bother….there’s only 2 of us in the house now, and I’m so sick of all the same old recipes. You’ve made it fun to try some new things and so far we’ve enjoyed everything! I generally work from home, but today I have to hit the office, so I’m trying the Crock Pot Pulled Chicken. I can tell from the sauce that I poured over it that it’s gonna be another hit!
Kudos to you, girl!
Glad to hear Spencer’s been spreading the word!
Hi! I just stumbled on your blog here when I was searching for a good pulled chicken recipe. I am definitely going to be a frequent reader from now on! Great blog and great recipes!
Holy moly!
I made this a week ago and it was FABULOUS! My husband is a picky eater and we ate this for 5 days straight! He loved it. And he is very picky about his BBQ sauce too and he is still raving about this recipe.
The sauce was a little too “ketchupy” for us, so I altered it a little, but overall this is so yummy. I am making it again this weekend for a Steelers party for some friends and family.
Thanks for a great recipe!

Aw Libby, you brought a tear to my eye!
I made these delicious sandwiches last night for an election party- they were a huge hit! Thanks!
Looks great!
What do you serve these with for sides or veggies?
As for the viola – I once saw it written as Wah-La!
Not even joking!
Jane: Thank you! And I would definitely serve this with a vegetable (although I didn’t, haha). Maybe broccoli or green beans or a nice salad?
This is a great recipe! You can also be real sneaky and just use barbecue sauce instead of the ketchup and brown sugar, then I add apple cider vinegar, onions and chopped garlic(in the jar). I am always looking for ways to make it simpler. Thanks for the recipe. I love slow cooking!
Hi, looks good. However, I was wondering how many it serves? I’m having friends over for lunch tomorrow and wonder if I should increase the ingredients. From an American living in Shanghai recently married a hot Singaporean and even more recently cooking for 2.5 (bun in the oven).
Lizzy: I would say it serves 4-6, depending on how hungry everyone is!
Hey Sydney! I found your post on Stumble and have nominated it for a Nommy award! G’luck and look forward to more posts from you and this site!
